I talk about a variety of controversial subjects including:

Prostitution & the sex industry, Single mums, Mums in prison (All of which I have direct experience in. as you can read here)

For over a decade I was a sex worker and madam, working my way up from the streets, to the saunas and eventually working as a high-class escort.

My personal journey through the sex industry was a rocky one. Most of my hardest lessons were learnt in prison, where I learned some skills that eventually taught me how to turn my life around.   I'm not proud of my past, but I refuse to be ashamed of it either and use my experience to positively contribute to other people's lives.

I have worked closely with many agencies, encouraging successful strategies & a no-nonsense approach to tackling various issues; my work often includes public speaking at conferences. Earlier this year I was a contributor to the Government's paper 'Paying the Price'. I also offer sex workers support and advice , other sources of advice and counselling as well as constructive approaches for exit routes out of the game , as well as trying to advise the many women, who feel they are wishing to enter the industry, that there is another way.

I found that there were many areas about the industry that the media (and therefore the general public) were poorly informed about, resulting in stereotyping and other negative attitudes that were particularly offensive to those in the industry as well as often being quite damaging. I have paid particular attention to the way that crimes (and specifically murder) is often desensitised when linked to prostitution.

Key to this issue, I have spent much time conversing with Richard McCann, fellow writer and survivor & son of Wilma Mccann the Yorkshire Rippers first victim.

My national appearances have included:
BBC Radio One, BBC News, Channel 4, This Morning, Kilroy. Newspapers: The Daily Mirror, The News of the World, The Sport. I also contributed to & narrated Personal Services an ITV 6 part series, which clearly showed many women, can work in the sex industry as a personal choice and in safe circumstances.

Local:
BBC Radio Leeds (regular contributor for Liz Green), Radio Aire, Calendar (local TV news team), The Yorkshire Post & Eve Post Newspapers

International:
The Canadian Discovery Channel, Radio Anglaterra ( Spain )

Networking useful contributors such as:

  • Former police members who have worked in vice
  • University lecturers in Ethics and Sociology
  • Parlour owners who provide positive role models
  • Students on the game who were trying to clear debt.
  •  (I have also worked closely with several lecturers in Ethics, Sociology & Social Policy at both the Leeds Met & Uni).

Currently I contribute to other reporter's work, in the future I intend to write my own articles. I've also written a book based on my experiences, which is currently with my agent Judith Chilcote.

If I can be of further assistance please do not hesitate to email me .

    Warmest regards

    Charlie.

“Charlie is a rare thing in the media: she's honest. Her life experience is distilled into a narrative that is not just compelling, but articulate funny, feisty & fearless. Able to debate without being defensive or aggressive & to tell it how it is — that's a gift for any interviewer. What's more, you can't help but like her & listen to what she has to say. If you want the truth about vice or need a powerful advocate for better rights for sex workers — Charlie Daniels is that voice & she speaks from the heart.”

Liz Green Broadcaster and Journalist, BBC Radio

“Charlie’s story is emotional, articulate and empowering. Shedding a light into a world that many people experience, but are not willing to share. She puts a human face on prostitution. An articulate spokesperson who is able to get to the point, telling it like it is and exposing the truth about living life as a prostitute... an incredible resource for those who want an unvarnished view of the world of ‘sex for sale’.”

She lifts the lid on the Pandora’s Box of the sex industry, while including both the comic and the tragic sides of this age-old profession. A genuine, sympathetic & intelligent woman whose no-nonsense approach to life enables her to ‘tell it like it is, warts and all.’ We struck up a professional & personal rapport, based on mutual trust and respect & stayed in touch ever since. What next? A blockbuster film, I hope…”
